Early Years of Childhood Education are the crucial Years

Every child is a unique dynamic unit with an inbuilt capacity to learn. They learn from their experiences, environmental stimulation, quality of care, security of consistency and consequences of their exploration.

• Play is an important resource for causing learning; it is an integral part of a child’s early years of development which supports their journey of learning.
• Young children can develop many skills through the power of play.
• Play is a source and resource which sets up the stage for the child to develop their imagination, dexterity, movements, their exploration of their environment, develop emotions and above all their problem-solving skills.
• It is in fact an activity which can easily stimulate different sensory channels for the child and cause learning.
• Play can be in different forms solitary, quiet and reflective.
• Play can also be social, active and engaging.

Another relevant and multidimensional view is presented by the work of Jean Piaget an eminent child psychologist in the past. His work may be historical but, in my opinion, it is still relevant and guiding.

One of the main theorists in influencing the thinking about children’s play in the twentieth century was Jean Piaget. He propagated 4 major aspects of child development.

which we strongly believe in and are guided by:

• Children are active learners who interact with their environment.
• Children use different thinking strategies at different stages of their development and their thinking is qualitatively different from those of adults.
• Children pass through different stages of development in their thinking, and these stages are identifiable by observing children’s responses to activities and questions.
• The stages follow a certain order and this order is universal. Each child will, however, pass through stages at their own rate of development. This development will be influenced by both heredity and social factors.
